In the world today there are more than 40,000 apps dedicated to health and in fact the ever more common use of mHealth has generated a new paradigm in patient care processes. Being aware of the new needs of social healthcare professionals and in order to encourage the use of ICTs in this area in Catalonia, the Fundació TicSalut has started up a display of mobile applications in order to become a reference place on the Internet and to give innovative projects visibility.
In the TicSalut Observatory area of this new section you can find the mobility apps and projects geolocated by countries. The Web also allows searches to recover the applications by operating system, areas of interest and medical specialities. The information currently available on the website has been provided by the mHealth Competence Centre of the Mobile World Capital Barcelona Foundation.
The Fundació TicSalut aims to bring together all of the mobility applications and projects currently being developed in Catalonia. TicSalut therefore invites you to share your apps and initiatives with the whole community of professionals and patients with interest in mHealth. Just fill in a simple questionnaire.
According to the TicSalut CEO, Francesc García Cuyàs, the foundation is working to draw up a system to validate the good practices of social healthcare apps (safety, quality, contents, approval, interoperability, etc.) so that professionals and citizens might have mobile applications that meet all suitable guarantees of quality and safety.
Until 3 July, the public consultation of the European Commission on mHealth is open following the publication of the Green Paper on Mobile Health in the past April. Comments are welcome from healthcare professionals, patients and patient associations, app developers, entrepreneurs, manufacturers of mobile devices, insurance companies, sports centres and any other user of mobile applications and devices.
The comments and contributions on the Green Paper on Mobile Health can be sent by form or by e-mail.
