Integration projects and interoperability in the eHealth Technical Event of Galicia

The event will add knowledge on integration projects and interoperability which are currently being achieved, not only by SERGAS (Health Galician Service) but also among other nearby regions, as Portugal.

One of the main meeting grounds was on the Code 100, an innovation health plan (2014-2020) of the Galician Counselling focused on the patient. In it, he has as a principal axe the first answer to demographic change and the new health system promotion ready for leading the active and healthy ageing (Galicia is one of the more ageing regions of Europe).  Code 100 presents three working lines:

• Patient empowerment.
• New initiatives and devices, services and protocols.
• Initiatives that are increasing the professional proficiencies and innovating the system.

Javier Quiles, of Conselleria Sanidade, in his presentation, shared an image on the base architecture of Continua Alliance, promoting the use of these guides. Quiles also talked about the project Activage (of 25M€ budget) in which SERGAS is participating in the pilot project. Horizon 2020 project on IoT for public health services, born from the merge of two ecosystems: AHA Ecosystem and IoT Ecosystem. Finally, he concluded explaining the standards and architectures that are being applied in this project.

From his part, Diogo Martins, of SPMS (Shared Services of the Health Ministry in Portugal) showed the MWP (Multi-Annual Work Plan) who are entitled of the usage for the next four years (2018-2021). The plan is focused on four areas:

• Patient’s empowerment (through eHealth/mHealth and IoT).
• Innovator use of health data (big data).
• Improve care continuity.
• Overtake implementation challenges (interoperability, data security…).

In his session, Michael Strübin, of PCHAlliance, underlined the significance of the Continua guides to ease the interoperability and the integrations to different projects.  He also stressed the critical step done in Catalonia to be the first (or one of them) public institutions in requiring the Continua guides use for qualification approval of saccharimeter, initiative driven by the Office of Standards and Interoperability of the TIC Salut Social Foundation.

At last, Fernando Machicado, of the UNE (Spanish Association of Normalization,  former AENOR), explained the PROGRESSIVE project, focused on the active ageing.  The project aim is to create a coordinative platform of the normalisation for AHA (Active and Healthy Ageing).

The event was for also representing the significance of the use of standards or guides as the PCHA to do these integrations successfully.
