HumanITcare obtains the mobile app certification seal

HumanITcare, software used to monitor patients with chronic diseases, has passed the TIC Salut Social Foundation’s mobile app certification process. Núria Pastor, its CEO, shares her impressions of the evaluation process and why they decided to have their product certified.

HumaITcare’s tool can connect to third-party platforms, such as clinical records, and interoperate information. It can thus compile data from different devices such as glucometers, scales, blood pressure monitors and wearables that patients use at home and in their everyday lives. Monitoring alarms, previously configured by professionals, are generated during data collection. These are useful to detect delicate patient situations such as risk of relapse or decompensation. This information can be recorded in the electronic health records managed by health care centres.

The software’s settings are configured by the hospitals. Through access to the application’s API, HumanITcare is integrated with the centre’s medical records and the monitoring plan is configured to determine the type of data collected, the frequency, the types of alerts and other useful information such as frequently asked questions.

Regarding the process of recommending the tool to patients, Pastor said, “It cannot be freely accessed. Users are always under the supervision of a health professional who gives them download access.” He added that in the developer’s view, “It is very important for there to be a clinical team behind this tool and that we do not lose the human touch. Having a professional who can supervise technical issues and speak directly with the patient adds value to our contribution to digital health.”

To expand the user community, a control and monitoring group will be deployed to increase the focus on prevention plans and cardiological diseases.
