The TIC Salut Social Chair appoints Francesc López Seguí as its new director

The TIC Salut Social Chair at the University of VIC – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC) this week appointed Francesc López Seguí as its new director. The chair was created in December 2013 by a joint initiative between the TIC Salut Social Foundation and the UVic-UCC. Its vision is to provide teaching and training services and serve as a point of reference for research related to information and communication technologies, health and the social system.

López Seguí is an economist with a PhD cum laude in Biomedicine from Pompeu Fabra University. He was part of the foundation’s team from 2015 to 2020. He currently coordinates the Health Economics Unit of the Care Strategy Directorate at the Catalan Health Institute, in the Territorial Management of the North Metropolitan Health Region.

This new appointment gives fresh impetus to all training and research activities related to the digital transformation of the Health and Social Rights Systems in Catalonia. According to the new director, “the TIC Salut Social Chair will continue to collaborate with health and public health institutions in the local, national and international environments to promote projects and initiatives focused on improving care quality and service provision, and establish a new model for the relationship between the public and their health and social system through ICT”.

The chair is thus reaffirmed as an instrument to promote collaboration between health care service providers, universities and research centres, as well as companies linked to this ecosystem.
