Last August, María José Campo Salas became the director of the Office of the Health Data Protection Officer.
María José Campo, who has been part of the Health DPO team since February 2020 as the Regulatory Compliance Officer says, “The Office will continue its work to support and advise health bodies with their tasks and projects in the field of data protection while guaranteeing the rights of users of the public health system of Catalonia”.
The new director holds a law degree from the University of Barcelona and a master’s degree in workplace risk prevention from the Pontifical University of Comillas – ICADE. Her career began in the private sector, until 2007 when she began working in the Catalan Government Administration as part of the Department of Health legal advice team. At this stage she set out on the path of specialising in personal data protection. In the educational field, she has taken part in various training sessions and talks on data protection in the field of health. Since 2013 she has been a member of the Technical Committee on Clinical Documentation.
María José Campo is taking over from Robert Rubió, who has joined the Data Protection and Privacy Programme of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at the United Nations System.
