On the morning of Friday, 22 February 2019, the Interoperability Area of the Fundació TIC Salut Social attended the seminar Synergies for the future of documentation, organized by the Acadèmia de Ciències Mèdiques i de la Salut de Catalunya i de Balears.
The day began with the inaugural speech by the President of the Societat Catalana de Documentació Mèdica, Dr Lluís Vilardell.
The first round-table featured experts on education giving their views on Higher Education degrees in Documentation and Healthcare Administration. The panel of speakers, including Dr Rafael Peral, all shared the Ministry of Education’s point of view. Dr Montse Argerich spoke of the typical student profile, and Dr Mª Angeles Castellote spoke about the relationships between schools and practice centres. The first debate concluded with Dr Marta Sorribas speaking about job opportunities for graduates.
The day concluded with the second debate, which centred round the views of healthcare professionals and students’ personal experience. First to speak was Dr Gemma Gelabert, who spoke of her career in Clinical Documentation. She was followed by Antonio González who spoke of his experiences in an Admissions Systems service. Daniel Pérez then spoke of his career in an IT Systems service. The second debate concluded with the experiences of a student of a Degree in Health Documentation and Administration, Joan Marc Parera.
