The final revision of the Trillium II Project took place on 4 September. Representatives of various countries and collaborating partners defended the project before three external experts appointed by the European Commission. The Fundació TIC Salut Social’s Office of Standards and Interoperability (OFSTI) took part in the meeting, as a partner from the Catalonia region.
Trillium II is a project funded by the Horizon 2020 research and innovation program and is based on results from previous EU projects such as epSOS and Trillium Bridge. Its objective is to increase knowledge and accelerate the adoption of the International Patient Summary, using leading international standards such as HL7, FHIR and SNOMED CT.
During the review, which was held in the Euroforum building in Luxembourg, the various leaders of the work packages presented their major findings, in response to questions put to them by the experts appointed by the European Commission. In addition, the various apps which had been developed in the course of the project were put through their paces. During the presentation, which lasted approximately an hour, OFSTI took the opportunity to demonstrate its Carecord App, which was tested during the EUModex exercise in Estonia, and which provides a Patient Summary to be used in the event of a natural disaster.
Although the experts have not yet provided their official feedback, on the whole, the project’s results were warmly and positively received.
Now that Trillium II has ended, the partners are already considering how to continue making progress in fostering cross-border interoperability, taking advantage of initiatives and standards which have been created.
