Interoperability in healthcare data is important for many reasons. LOINC plays an important part in this process. Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes is both a database and a universal standard for identifying medical laboratory observations.
Over three days, the Fundació Tic Salut Social’s Oficina d’Estàndards i Interoperabilitat brought together experts from around the world to attend meetings of the LOINC laboratory and clinical committees. For the first time these took place outside of the United States and the Fundació Tic Salut Social was chosen as a partner to host the event. The event was held at the Foundation’s current headquarters, at the Centre de Congressos Tecnocampus, in Mataró.
During the congress, in addition to the internal committee sessions, workshops were held to show how to implement LOINC in healthcare IT systems.
Every workshop was led by a team of experts who were eager to clear up any doubts the attendees had, thus creating an atmosphere of dialogue and the free exchange of knowledge among the attendees.
