During the meeting, the participants gained a better understanding of the technological progresses made in motor recovery, cognitive and communicative recovery and musical therapies. Two examples of this were MEDITOUCH, introducing physical recovery systems aimed at neurodegenerative problems, and the Rehabilitation Gaming Systems platform, an innovative tool of virtual reality for the health and brain recovery (RHB).
“The treatment of stroke has changed dramatically in recent years. Not only from a neurological point of view but in terms of rehabilitation”, stated Mrs. Esther Duarte, recovery doctor in the Hospital de l’Esperança during her speech “New approach in the RHB of patients after stroke”.
“The neuropsychological recovery is important and necessary”, outlined Mrs. Rocío Sánchez-Carrión, neuropsychologist at the Fundació Institut Guttmann, “but we have to know more about what happens to the patient in order to help them to develop strategies to compensate for these alterations”, she ended.
The meeting was followed through the hashtag #RHBictus, generating about one hundred tweets, including our own, the references and the RTs. We have made a list of the most significant ones:
