One of the most important meetings on healthcare and ICTs, the eHealth Week was held at the International Exhibition Centre Kipsala in Riga, with the collaboration of the European Connected Health Alliance. Apart from the two main events, the High Level eHealth Conference, organised by the Latvian Ministry of Health, and the World of Health IT (WoHIT) conference, organised by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Europe, the participants also attended different conferences, training sessions, exhibitions and exchanges of experiences. It was a place to exchange relevant information on new technological elements with potential to improve the efficiency of healthcare and medical treatments.
A delegation from Fundació TicSalut attended the meeting and shared information with other European agents of the health sector. In particular, the representatives of Fundació TicSalut were Jordi Martínez, director of Innovation; Tino García, manager of the International Area; Ignasi Garcia-Milà and Cristina Adell, EU Project Managers and leaders of the UNWIRED Health Project.
In the Speakers’ Corner, TicSalut used its five minutes to present the project and highlight the Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP), which will be published immediately. According to Adell, this event was “an excellent opportunity to find buyers and possible service providers interested in the PCP process”.
In this sense, Adell added that the meeting was also useful “for strengthening and promoting synergies among the authorities of the private and public health sector and the clinical sector, hospital managers and IT experts at a global level”.
The first two days of the eHealth Week also coincided with the mHealth Summit Europe, with a few sessions aimed at putting eHealth into the European agenda in a more consistent way. Other relevant activities that were organised were the EU SME eHealth Competition, a competition that rewards the best mHealth initiative from small and medium sized companies, and the HIMSS Europe Online Matchmaking, an activity that aims at stimulating collaboration among technological companies, health services providers and stockholders. The meeting gathered more than 2,000 international delegates and as many as 75 exhibitors.
