ICT in patient care

In Spain, 39% of citizens have a chronic disease and these account for between 70% and 80% of health expenditure. More than 30% of the public budget of Catalonia is currently devoted to the care of chronic patients. Dr. Maite Garolera will talk about the challenges that new technologies can contribute to solving, providing complementary models of care that can contribute to modifying the exchange of information and increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of health resources. Telemedicine, big data for information analysis, serious games and health applications burst in to offer new forms of patient care.

Apps and health

The day will also host several sessions dedicated to health apps that help citizens, such as MedicSen, Medipremium, and Bwom. There will also be talk about the Technovation Challenge Project and ‘Girls for a change’, which unites technology and entrepreneurship, suggesting that girls aged 10 to 18 might create a mobile application to solve a social problem among the Goals for Sustainable Development of the United Nations, Health being one such goal.
