The DPO office now has two new affiliated entities in the Department of Health and the public sector

The DPO Office of the TIC Salut Social Foundation has recently added two new entities which it will support within the scope of the Department of Health and the public sector. The Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute Foundation (I3PT) and Interhospitalia-2 AIE now make up a total of thirty-nine affiliated entities in application of the stipulations of the First Final Provision of Decree 148/2023 of 1 August on Data Protection Officers of the Administration of the Generalitat and its public sector; and the First and Second Transitional Provisions of Order SLT/131/2024 of 6 June, which determines the organisation of Data Protection Offices in the scope of the Department of Health and public sector entities.

Attributions of the DPO office

The latter regulation provisionally maintains the attribution of the functions as data protection officer to the TIC Salut Social Foundation, through the DPO Health Office, with regard to: the Department of Health, the Catalan Health Service, the Health Quality and Evaluation Agency of Catalonia, the TIC Social Health Foundation and the public sector entities of the Department of Health.

It should be noted that in accordance with Article 37.1.a) of the GDPR all public bodies must have an appointed data protection officer and that the aforementioned Order SLT/131/2024 of 6 June provided for the regime of affiliations of organisations and entities in the public health field to the DPO Office, granting of a term of three months from its entry into force for the regularisation of the situation of non-adherent entities, such that, although the term has already expired, new additions would be afforded.
