The Digital Assets Area of the TIC Salut Social Foundation, in collaboration with the Citizenship, Innovation and User Area of the Catalan Health Service, the Department of Health and the Department of Social Rights and Inclusion, works to promote the use of digital solutions and services to bring them closer to citizens. These digital assets, accessible through a website, a mobile application or other interfaces, allow the practice of health and social welfare activities focused on the person.

The main commitment of the area is to promote and accompany in the use of digital health and well-being solutions aimed at citizens of the Health System of Catalonia.

Functions

  • To advise when creating quality and trustworthy digital solutions.
  • To accompany SISCAT entities to identify and offer good practices for existing assets or when creating new ones.
  • To inform on national and international trends and novelties regarding sector digital assets.
  • To certify health apps following European standards like CEN ISO/TS 82304-2, Health Department guides, and applicable laws concerning health apps.
  • To collaborate with the Catalan Health Service and other entities from the Health and Social Rights Departments to embrace using health and social digital assets.

Under Digital Assets you will find:

  • A directory of health and social apps for citizens, patients, and professionals that encompasses phone apps relevant to the Catalan territory.
  • Good practices guides and recommendations to aid when developing health apps.
  • A certification process for health apps that allows quality apps to be offered that follow European, national, and local standards.
  • A self-assessment test that will allow you to know if the health app aligns with usability, accessibility, contents, security, data privacy, and technological robustness requirements.

Digital assets in health and social care have great potential to facilitate the management of the health and well-being of the population; and their evaluation and subsequent certification allows to ensure their quality, good use, and benefit by the people who use them. There are many efforts coming from different regions of the European Union and from different health systems to promote these applications among citizens and achieve a common framework of trust within public systems, with unique evaluation criteria throughout Europe.
