El terme eHealth gathers all of those initiatives that apply the use of ICTs to support and improve healthcare and promote health. It includes, amongst other things, telemedicine which implies off-site healthcare services as the World Health Organisation notes. eHealth constantly grows, provides more efficient healthcare, and adapts to the needs of each individual.
TIC Salut Social Foundation eHealth area’s objectives are:
- Encourage the use of new technology to improve care and promote health.
- Coordinate scalable health innovation projects to improve fairness and efficiency in healthcare.
How is innovation encouraged?
Innovation projects in healthcare appear by identifying a need. The TIC Salut Social Foundation works to ensure the development of these projects is possible and, provided results are favourable, promotes scalability throughout Catalonia.

The quick evolution of new technologies, alongside availability and lower cost of connection services, has allowed us to evolve in the design of care systems and models increasingly adapted to the needs of the person and their personal, clinical, and social conditions.
