New improvements to the digital asset certification service

Over the past few months, the TIC Salut Social Foundation has updated its digital asset certification service to provide greater guarantees of quality and technological reliability, internationally recognised through the European reference standard ISO/TS 82304-2.

Catalonia is the first European region to apply this new layer of robustness, and the details of this evaluation framework can be found in the document published last July.

European Accessibility Act

In parallel, as of June 28, 2025, compliance with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) is mandatory across the European Union. This regulation, officially known as Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and Council, sets out common accessibility requirements for a wide range of digital and technological products and services, both public and private, which are covered in the latest version of the Good Practice Guide for Digital Assets for Citizens.

The guide includes a specific section on digital accessibility and serves as a useful tool for developers and organisations wishing to ensure that their products comply with current legal and technical standards.

The main goal of the EAA is to remove the barriers faced by people with disabilities and older adults, ensuring that everyone can access technology, public and private services, and information in an autonomous and inclusive way.

In Spain, this directive has been transposed through Law 11/2023, which sets out specific obligations for banks, technology companies, retailers, developers, and operators of public and private services.

The regulation applies to devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and computers, as well as their operating systems (Android, iOS, Windows, macOS). It also includes televisions, media players, devices such as Google Chromecast or Apple TV, television streaming services (such as Netflix or HBO), e-readers, and self-service terminals such as ATMs, ticket vending machines, or check-in kiosks, among others.

LactApp, the first mobile application to pass the new certification service

The company LactApp Medical is the first to undergo and successfully pass the Foundation’s improved digital asset certification service. To mark this achievement, we recently spoke with professionals who use this mobile application as end users.
