The MH4EU-ES-LR project (Expansion of MyHealth@EU in Spain) aims to enable the secure and interoperable cross-border exchange of laboratory results and reports, supporting continuity of care and improving the quality of healthcare when citizens receive medical treatment outside their country of residence.
The project is developed within the framework of MyHealth@EU, the European initiative that enables the exchange of health data between Member States through a common digital infrastructure. To date, MyHealth@EU has enabled the cross-border exchange of services such as the patient summary and ePrescription, facilitating access to essential clinical information in cross-border healthcare settings.
Building on these existing services, MH4EU-ES-LR focuses specifically on extending MyHealth@EU towards the cross-border availability of laboratory results and reports, strengthening access to relevant diagnostic information for healthcare professionals and contributing to safer and more efficient care.
The project started on 1 August 2025 and is coordinated by the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut), with the participation of the TIC Salut Social Foundation (FTSS) and the Spanish Ministry of Health. The initiative aligns with European digital health priorities and the progressive deployment of electronic cross-border health services.
