Break the Gap: AI for Health & Sport Summit 2025

GooApps, a leading agency in the development of digital solutions and artificial intelligence for health, sport, and wellness, announces the launch of the second edition of its innovation event: Break the Gap: AI for Health & Sport Summit 2025. This event takes a step further than its first edition, the AI & mHealth Challenge 2024, focused on the healthcare sector, by adding a second vertical dedicated to sports. The goal is to identify and find solutions to existing challenges in both sectors through scalable technological innovations with real impact.

With a strong focus on artificial intelligence, mHealth, and applied innovation, Break the Gap 2025 aims to promote the creation of digital tools capable of improving diagnosis, treatment, physical recovery, and healthcare and sports management. The event is structured into two verticals: BreakTheGap AI & mHealth Challenge (health and wellness) and BreakTheGap AI & SportTech Challenge (sport and physical performance).

One of the main new features of this edition is its commitment to reducing the gender gap in the tech ecosystem. All projects must be represented by women. Additionally, the event will feature a network of mentors, jury members, and speakers with strong female representation, reflecting GooApps’ firm commitment to showcasing female talent in digital innovation.

The call for challenges is open until May 25, 2025, targeting health and sports professionals who wish to propose real-life problems with the potential to be solved through technology. An expert committee will select eight finalist projects, four per vertical, which will be supported by multidisciplinary teams made up of tech experts, specialized mentors, and sector professionals.

The online development and prototyping sessions will take place on July 3, 10, and 17, culminating in the final in-person event: September 9 for the health vertical at the Barcelona Health Hub – Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site, and September 10 for the sports vertical at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.

The winning startups of each vertical will receive an equity investment of €50,000 from GooApps Ventures, GooApps’ venture builder, along with media visibility, access to additional funding, and the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders from the healthcare, sports, and tech ecosystems.

Break the Gap 2025 thus consolidates itself as a transformative platform, designed to unite innovation, diversity, and interdisciplinary collaboration, with the goal of developing solutions that improve quality of life and strengthen the technological competitiveness of the health, wellness, and sports sectors.
