Presentation of the market consultation for the breast cancer screening challenge

Event to present the open market consultation, or preliminary market consultation, aimed at gathering information on market availability and on the possibilities for the market to provide and integrate, in a systemic manner, AI based solutions to support the Catalonia breast cancer early detection programme. In particular, the main interest lies in ensuring that the application of AI tools optimises the resources of the early detection programme, enabling the extension of the screening age range from 45 to 74 years, while guaranteeing human oversight and service quality.

During the event, the alignment of this initiative as a challenge within the Salut AI Programme will be presented, together with the needs and procedures of the breast cancer early detection programme and the key considerations for implementing already certified AI. Full details on how the consultation will be carried out will also be shared.

The challenge is promoted by the Oncology Master Plan and coordinated through the Health/AI Programme, in which the Catalan Department of Health, CatSalut, the TIC Salut i Social Foundation, AQuAS and the Institute for Diagnostic Imaging take part. For this initiative, representatives from radiology units of hospitals in Catalonia and other health sectors will also collaborate.
