The Health/AI Programme and the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS) are promoting two tenders to incorporate AI-based technologies in the diagnosis and clinical monitoring of stroke and thoracic pathologies in primary care.
The Catalan Health System is advancing in the integration of innovative digital solutions through the publication of two new tenders to implement artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in high-impact clinical processes: the diagnosis and secondary prevention of stroke, and the interpretation of chest X-rays in primary care.
Both initiatives are part of the Health/AI Programme, a strategic line promoted by the Department of Health with the aim of digitally transforming the Catalan healthcare system, promoting the adoption of useful, safe AI tools aligned with the real needs of healthcare professionals. The tenders have been designed and published by AQuAS and are supported by the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, funded by the NextGenerationEU funds.
With an estimated value of 810,000 euros (VAT not included), this tender aims to procure an AI solution to support the diagnosis and monitoring of stroke patients, integrating it into the healthcare flow of the Catalan Health System.
The solution must be capable of analysing and interpreting different types of computed tomography scans used in the diagnosis of stroke, according to the use cases defined in the specifications. In addition, it will have to facilitate clinical communication between professionals through tools accessible from mobile devices, tablets, and computers, and send automated alerts when results are available. System integration is also planned through web, mobile, and API interfaces.
Deadline for submitting offers: until 17 July 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Check the details and specifications on the Public Procurement Services Platform.
The second tender, with an estimated value of 920,000 euros (VAT not included), seeks an AI solution capable of detecting relevant findings in chest X-rays performed in the primary care setting. This initiative responds to the conclusions of the previously conducted Preliminary Market Consultation, which confirmed the potential of AI solutions to identify anomalies such as:
The solution must include an interpretation support system, with the ability to send alerts and clinical messages, update continuously, and generate automated reports with the identified findings. This tool will be deployed in all Primary Care Centres of the Catalan Health System, with direct integration into existing healthcare circuits.
Deadline for submitting offers: until 16 July 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Check the details and specifications on the Public Procurement Services Platform.
These two tenders represent a clear commitment to the digital transformation of the healthcare system, through the incorporation of AI solutions that:
With a global investment of more than 1.7 million euros, these projects reinforce the health system’s commitment to technological innovation aimed at tangible clinical and healthcare results.
