Presentation of the Catalan Health System Precision Medicine Platform (OMIQ-HES)

Precision medicine represents a paradigm shift in healthcare. It must provide for more preventive medicine and care, as well as more effective and safer diagnoses and treatments. It can also provide more streamlined healthcare spending, facilitating the sustainability of the system.

ICTs play a key role in the deployment of precision medicine. Equipping them with tools that facilitate the healthcare process by incorporating bioinformatics tools provides equity and sustainability to the healthcare system. Creating a research and innovation ecosystem is the mission of the Health System Precision Medicine Platform (OMIQ-HES).

This platform, promoted by the Catalan Health System, has the technological support of Bioinformatics Barcelona (BIB), Genomcore and Fujitsu.

The OMIQ-HES will be presented next Wednesday morning, 5 February, at the Aula Magna of the Casa Convalescència in Barcelona. To attend, register via this link. The programme is detailed below:

Bioinformatics Workshop: Introduction to the OMIQ-HES project and presentation of the BIMS Platform

This workshop seeks to generate an interactive space to explore how bioinformatics can transform clinical care in oncology, establishing the foundations for personalised medicine in Catalonia.

It is addressed to bioinformaticians and aims to provide an overview on the impact on the personalisation of oncology care and the key role of the Genomcore BIMS platform.

The session will present the main pillars of the project, which include the integration of clinical, genomic and pharmacological data into a single, centralised system. Platform capabilities will be addressed, such as scalable genomic data storage, advanced bioinformatics processing, automated reporting, and analytical exploitation for research and clinical practice.
