The InterSocial project was created in 2016 from the need to define a controlled vocabulary that allowed interoperability of information by social services in Catalonia.

From the need to standardise and interoperate information systems in the social field, InterSocial becomes a regular service for TIC Salut Social regarding the Department of Social Rights to aid when exchanging comprehensive information between different fields and systems, such as the social and health ones, and offer better quality care services.

Having analysed both the international and national existing state of the art standards, the selected terminological standard to homogenise controlled vocabulary is SNOMED CT. A very extensive terminology base in which social and health concepts can be found. Therefore, it is the best option for the social field to become interoperable both internally and externally with other ones, such as Education, Justice, or Health.

The consolidation through the division of structured information between different information systems is carried out by a codified and updated dictionary structured by factors, social needs, observations, and replies.

InterSocial has a total amount of 560 included concepts.

These controlled vocabulary focuses on integrating social services data in order to help social services’ professionals improve more efficiently their jobs.

The Foundation gives you the Social Terminology Dictionary with the aim of promoting joint work and adopting standards to pass on information efficiently.
