Digital Medical Imaging

SECTIONS

In 2018, the Department of Health set up the Digital Medical Imaging System in Catalonia (SIMDCAT in Catalan), a secure and technologically advanced environment in which digital medical imaging services can be saved and shared between entities included in the Catalan public health system (SISCAT in Catalan).

SIMDCAT also makes use of digital services and resources based on the same architecture of safe and relocated programmes as a cloud service to allow digital medical imaging to become accessible from the different healthcare electronic histories in a decentralised way.

The quick advance of technology and discipline consolidation such as artificial intelligence position digital medical imaging as a source of information for clinical data relevant when developing healthcare models based on precocious and preventive prediction. Therefore, they allow improvements on current care services in terms of fairness, efficiency, and systemic sustainability.
