TAKANORI SHIBATA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"107\" data-end=\"1410\">Dr. Takanori Shibata has been Chief Senior Research Scien0st at the Japanese Na0onal Ins0tute<br \/>\nof Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) since 2013. His research interests include<br \/>\nhuman-robot interac0on, robot therapy, mental health for astronauts in long-term mission, and<br \/>\nhumanitarian de-mining. He is the recipient of many scien0fic awards. IN 2002, PARO entered<br \/>\nthe Guinness World Records as the World&#8217;s Most Therapeu0c Robot; in 2015, it was awarded<br \/>\nthe Pa0ent Trophy for innova0on in non-pharmacological therapy for demen0a by Assistance<br \/>\nPublique-H\u00f4pitaux de Paris, France, one of the largest medical group in the world; and in 2017,<br \/>\nit received the \u201cBest of the Best\u201d award by Argentum, a major US associa0on serving companies<br \/>\nthat operate professionally managed senior living communi0es. Dr. Shibata received B.S., M.S.<br \/>\nand Ph.D. in Electronic and Mechanical Engineering from Nagoya University. He was a visi0ng<br \/>\nresearch scien0st at MIT\u2019s Ar0ficial Intelligence Lab from 1995 to 98 and at the AI Lab of the<br \/>\nUniversity of Zurich in 1996. He was also the Deputy Director for Informa0on and<br \/>\nCommunica0on Technology Policy, Japan Bureau of Science, Technology, and Innova0on Policy<br \/>\nat the Cabinet Office in 2009 and 2010.<br \/>\nDr. Shibata\u00b4s lecture takes place in the framework of the research project MyRobot.
