The aim of the project is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea at primary care centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jes\u00fas Berd\u00fan<\/strong>, the INNOBICS-SAHS manager at the foundation, explains the foundation\u2019s key role in the project, <strong>\u201cWe will identify the points in the care process that can be complemented with technology, ensuring that this new care process supported by technology is interoperable and guarantees a baseline of quality and sustainability both for the health sector and the patient\u2019s environment\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"El paper de la Fundaci\u00f3 TIC Salut Social al projecte INNOBICS-SAHS sobre apnea obstructiva del son\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sa6hRVmYI24?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will aid the digital transformation of the diagnostic process through data integration and the creation of a virtual support unit. This will allow primary care to be equipped with tools to improve the healthcare process, and will bring direct benefits for patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obstructive sleep apnea is the most common sleep-related breathing disorder and is caused by repetitive collapse of the upper airway during sleep. It is estimated to affect one in four people between the ages of 30 and 70, and leads to high mortality and morbidity if not treated in time. According to researchers, currently only 10% of cases are diagnosed in specialised hospital units in Spain, which tend to have waiting lists of more than a year.
