The subject of Digital Health has been taught in June within the framework of the Degree in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC). Coordinated by the TIC Salut Social Chair, the education provides students with a knowledge base with regard to the application of ICT in healthcare environments. This is education which is only available on the Degree in Medicine course at the UVic-UCC, covering the areas of technological innovation of the TIC Salut Social Foundation.<\/p>\n

The range of skills includes an introduction to the digital strategy of the Catalan health system, the identification of the application of ICT in different situations in the field of health, the use of non-physical service channels in the healthcare field, the development of skills for non-face-to-face communication and understanding AI as a tool to support decision-making in medicine.<\/p>\n

With a practical approach, these subjects are addressed through areas such as system interoperability, telemedicine, digital medical imaging, innovation, entrepreneurship, 3D printing and artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

Participation of experts from the sector<\/strong><\/p>\n

The teachers of the different thematic blocs are professionals from the Catalan health ecosystem who contribute their knowledge and experience in order to enrich the learning process. They include\u00a0Ernest Sarrias<\/a>\u00a0(technological consultant),\u00a0Daniel Moreno<\/a>\u00a0(Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital),\u00a0Xavier Escayola<\/a>,\u00a0Jordi Mart\u00ednez<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Hern\u00e1n Lew<\/a>\u00a0(Sant Joan de D\u00e9u Barcelona Hospital),\u00a0\u00c0ngels Salvador<\/a>\u00a0(InnoHealthAcademy<\/a>), Cora Loste (Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital),\u00a0David Reifs<\/a>\u00a0(SEIDOR) and the director of the Chair,\u00a0Francesc L\u00f3pez<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In this regard, a total of 30 students have completed this optional subject on the degree course in 2024 by immersing themselves in the current applications of innovation applied to medical practice. It\u2019s therefore a subject that focuses on patient care and the optimisation of the quality of health services. It\u2019s an example of the commitment of the TIC Salut Social Chair to multi-directional knowledge transfer in innovation and digital health.
