Comprising <span class=\"s2\"><b>Elena Mercuri<\/b><\/span> (Bachelor\u2019s in Design and Innovation, Elisava), <span class=\"s2\"><b>Ainara Alonso<\/b><\/span> (Bachelor\u2019s in Biomedicine, UVic), and <span class=\"s2\"><b>Zixin Yu, Diana Hern\u00e1ndez, and Judith Redondo<\/b><\/span> (Bachelor\u2019s in Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine), their project is based on a <span class=\"s2\"><b>product designed to facilitate breast cancer prevention<\/b><\/span> through a <span class=\"s2\"><b>fluid-collecting dome<\/b><\/span> that enables <span class=\"s2\"><b>early detection<\/b><\/span> while reducing both the pain and economic costs associated with traditional screening.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cKori is a clear example of an innovative product that provides real solutions with a multidisciplinary perspective,\u201d said <span class=\"s2\"><b>Cristina Bustillo<\/b><\/span>, Head of Social Transformation at the <span class=\"s2\"><b>TIC Salut Social Foundation<\/b><\/span>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p3\">The winning team received a <span class=\"s2\"><b>\u20ac500 prize<\/b><\/span> and will represent UVic-UCC at the <span class=\"s2\"><b>European i-Days finals<\/b><\/span>, held within the <span class=\"s2\"><b>EIT Health Career Path event<\/b><\/span> in <span class=\"s2\"><b>Paris on November 27 and 28<\/b><\/span>, where finalists from <span class=\"s2\"><b>25 European cities<\/b><\/span> will compete for the overall title.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Second and Third Place Awards<\/b><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\">The <span class=\"s2\"><b>second prize<\/b><\/span> went to the <span class=\"s2\"><b>Screen-Trucks team<\/b><\/span>, composed of <span class=\"s2\"><b>Zakiya Turkey, Dina Mnwar, and Aliya Agossou<\/b><\/span> (Bachelor\u2019s in Medicine, UVic-UCC). Their proposal focused on a <span class=\"s2\"><b>mobile testing center offering urine-based screenings<\/b><\/span> to reach women who face barriers accessing traditional methods due to factors such as <span class=\"s2\"><b>geographical location, anxiety, or stigma<\/b><\/span>. The jury emphasized the <span class=\"s2\"><b>social relevance and need<\/b><\/span> for such a service and awarded the team <span class=\"s2\"><b>\u20ac200<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <\/span><b>third place<\/b><span class=\"s1\"> was awarded to <\/span><b>OncoFitt-VP<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, which received <\/span><b>\u20ac100<\/b><span class=\"s1\"> for its project \u2014 a <\/span><b>mobile application that prescribes individualized, adaptive therapeutic exercise programs<\/b><span class=\"s1\"> based on scientific evidence.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cRehabilitation is an essential topic, and there is still room for innovative solutions,\u201d noted the jury.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This team included <\/span><b>Carles Buxad\u00e9, Roger Ramonet, Ona Puigdomenech, and J\u00falia Romeu<\/b><span class=\"s1\"> (Bachelor\u2019s in Physiotherapy, UVic-UCC).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Innovation with Real-World Impact<\/b><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\">A total of <span class=\"s2\"><b>around twenty students<\/b><\/span> took part in the competition. The jury was composed of <span class=\"s2\"><b>Cristina Bustillo<\/b><\/span> (Head of Digital Transformation, TIC Salut Social Foundation), <span class=\"s2\"><b>Daniel Moreno<\/b><\/span> (Head of Innovation, Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol), and <span class=\"s2\"><b>Manu Vidal-Ribas<\/b><\/span> (Head of the Social Area, Centre for Health and Social Studies \u2013 CESS, UVic-UCC).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The jury praised the <span class=\"s2\"><b>high quality<\/b><\/span> and <span class=\"s2\"><b>innovative approach<\/b><\/span> of the projects presented during the Vic i-Days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The <span class=\"s2\"><b>Vic i-Days 2025<\/b><\/span> aim to <span class=\"s2\"><b>promote knowledge and innovation<\/b><\/span> among students from multiple disciplines. The competition encourages the development of innovative and critical-thinking projects that address <span class=\"s2\"><b>real social needs<\/b><\/span>, offering students the chance to apply their academic expertise to meaningful challenges.<\/p>\n<h3><b>About the i-Days and the Vic Edition<\/b><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\">The <span class=\"s2\"><b>i-Days<\/b><\/span> (Innovation Days) are a <span class=\"s2\"><b>European health innovation competition<\/b><\/span> promoted by <span class=\"s2\"><b>EIT Health<\/b><\/span>, a European network of health and innovation organizations that work under the <span class=\"s2\"><b>\u201cKnowledge Triangle\u201d principle<\/b><\/span> \u2014 connecting research, industry, and education to find innovative solutions to today\u2019s challenges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In Vic, the <\/span><b>bootcamp<\/b><span class=\"s1\"> is <\/span><b>co-organized by the TIC Salut Social Foundation Chair and UVic-UCC<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, in collaboration with <\/span><b>Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol (Catalan Health Institute)<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><b>Eurecat<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, and <\/span><b>Qualud<\/b><span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Throughout the project, students were supported by <span class=\"s2\"><b>mentors<\/b><\/span> specializing in the competition\u2019s theme.
