If we focus on trends, the market for virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (RA) and mixed reality (RM) has increased significantly in recent years. In fact, in the latest study of the Trend Map organized by the Fundaci\u00f3 TIC Salut Social, it was detected that 27% of the centers already used virtual reality, and throughout 2019 more than fifty of them were collected. initiatives in this area.<\/p>\n

As a result of this evolution, Fundaci\u00f3 TIC Salut Social promoted the creation of an interest group to address this disruptive technology in the health environment. Last September, the first meeting of this virtual reality interest group was organized, with the participation of more than 20 actors from the territory (currently more than 30 are already part of it). In recent months, the group has served to lay the groundwork for promoting an interest group in technologies in this field applied to health.<\/p>\n

Presentation of the report with the most outstanding conclusions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today, the 30th, the report<\/a> was presented with the most outstanding conclusions to date. A report, which can be downloaded on this same page freely (in Catalan), which aims to be a starting point on the current state of virtual reality in health and which has a summary of the historical evolution of this technology, applications and most used devices. It compares the different international initiatives and provides guidelines for promoting virtual reality projects in health centers.<\/p>\n

The report was born with the aim of becoming a consultation document for both professionals in the field of ICT and health and for the general public.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The study found that the medical specialties with the most application of this technology correspond to rehabilitation, teaching and training, pain treatment, surgery, vision treatment, 3D imaging and mental health and therapies. Also the need to define guidelines for promoting projects in this area in health centers, which take into account legal, ethical and safety considerations and aspects, among others.<\/p>\n
