The first steps have been taken in the digitalization of Pathological Anatomy with the replacement of optical microscopes used by pathologists with scanners that generate digital images. The most significant advantages of digitalization in this area include the availability and security of data, the objective quantification of biomarkers, the development of diagnostic algorithms based on artificial intelligence, the permanence of the original image and the possibility of teleworking, among many others.<\/p>\n

As enablers of digital transformation, the TIC Salut Social Foundation ensures that any technological innovations that can transform the healthcare model are implemented in Catalonia. In this context of transformation, the Catalan Health Service has launched the SIMDCAT-APAT project whose aim is to create a unified model for all the Pathological Anatomy Digital Medical Imaging of Catalonia.<\/p>\n

As enablers of digital transformation, the TIC Salut Social Foundation ensures that any technological innovations that can transform the healthcare model are implemented in Catalonia.<\/p>\n

This project requires the perspective and participation of pathology experts in order to be successful. The TIC Salut Social Foundation will contribute its experience in the development and implementation of the Medical Imaging System of Catalonia<\/p>\n

(SIMDCAT), which currently mainly extends to the field of radiology. And, for its part, the Hospital del Mar is one of the Catalan hospitals with the most experience in the digitalization of pathological anatomy.<\/p>\n

The TIC Salut Social Foundation will contribute its experience in the development and implementation of the Medical Imaging System of Catalonia (SIMDCAT), which currently mainly extends to the field of radiology.<\/p>\n

In this regard, in September 2020 the Hospital and the TIC Salut Social Foundation established a collaboration agreement through which the hospital will provide its know-how and support in the definition, detection of needs and functional design for the development and validation of the SIMDCAT-APAT platform.<\/p>\n

The SIMDCAT-APAT project is currently in the definition of needs and functional requirements phase which is why the TIC Salut Social Foundation has started to implement a methodology to detect needs, through interviews with professional pathologists, biologists and technicians involved in Pathological Anatomy at the Hospital del Mar. Based on this methodology, the TIC Salut Social Foundation will then analyse the results and define the functional requirements of the SIMDCAT-APAT.<\/p>\n
