They will further develop the Imagining 2029 work programme, providing opportunities for\u00a0<strong>interactive participation<\/strong>\u00a0and \u201cmeet and greet\u201d networking.<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2>Making the digital shift towards health and resilience \u00a0<span lang=\"EN-GB\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<div>The 2020 edition of the Thought Leader EHTEL Symposium will explore the\u00a0<strong>speed-up of digital health services<\/strong>\u00a0and their contributions to\u00a0<strong>healthy and resilient communities<\/strong>. Resilience is key.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In line with the coronavirus pandemic, a focus on\u00a0<strong>citizens\u2019 values\u00a0<\/strong>associated with public goods and services has gained ground. Health is seen by many people now as\u00a0<strong>a commons<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Digital technologies<\/strong>\u00a0are\u00a0<strong>the ideal ally<\/strong>\u00a0for people to maintain a physical distance, keep up with economic activity, and implement Europe\u2019s Green Deal.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Innovative digital health solutions have been\u00a0<strong>tried out for two decades\u00a0<\/strong>or more. Altogether, however, progress has remained slow because of\u00a0<strong>key resistance factors<\/strong>.\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-GB\">Many barriers to progress have now been\u00a0<\/span><b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">somewhat alleviated<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">as a result of responses to the COVID\u221219 outbreak.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>New voices\u00a0<\/strong>call for massive changes, digital advances, and more flexible social and health solutions which should increase\u00a0<strong>societal resilience<\/strong>. The public is now much more aware of the importance of\u00a0<strong>data<\/strong>, whether for epidemiological and health protection reasons. So,\u00a0<strong>resilience means also that data and knowledge must be shared and exploited much quicker than before.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>There is now a\u00a0<strong>new window of opportunity\u00a0<\/strong>to take advantage of the existing tailwinds and scale-up digital health services which support this new societal call. This is not anymore about promoting telemedicine or digital support for healthy ageing. The challenge today is about\u00a0<strong>creating the conditions for at-scale solutions which contribute to increasing resilience\u00a0<\/strong>in the\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-GB\">health\/social domains as well as in the economy.
