From 25 to 27 October, Fira de Barcelona was the venue of the second edition of the IoT Solutions World Congress (#IoTSWC).
Fundació TicSalut took part as an ambassador for the Congress, and had its own space to inform on the new developments in IoT applied to the health sector, and to talk about Digital Health and mHealth.
The session on the 25th included a master talk by Alessandro Lombardi, digital architect for Microsoft, who shed light on the different projects in IoT which the North American firm is currently promoting.
He himself raised the curtain on a roundtable that followed, focusing on the opportunities and challenges of IoT in the health and social sector, and which enjoyed the participation of IoT technicians and healthcare partners representing users, social sector and health sector such as La Salle BCN, i2cat, Atomian, Consorci Sanitari del Garraf and Enfermería Blog.
On the 26th, the HealthTech Cluster, along with TicSalut, organised a second session to identify new opportunities to start projects within the framework of Horizon2020 and a showroom with demonstrations of projects, participative tables and talks.
The session ended with a guided tour of the most important health stands of the Congress (Deloitte, Intel, Bittium, Cognizant and Accenture).
On the last day, Jesús Berdún, TicSalut Project Manager, took part as a speaker at the session “Transforming Health and Social Care Through IoT: Opportunities and Challenges” where there was talk about the transformation of health and well-being through IoT.
Balance of the 2nd edition
Following the second edition of the Internet Of Things Solutions World Congress (IOT SWC), the event is confirmed as an epicentre of immense value on the stage of innovation of the industrial sector related to the ecosystem of the Internet of things applied to smart cities, manufacturing, transport and logistics, healthcare and energy supply, as well as the management of organisations. The important announcements made throughout the meeting, along with the intense activity seen over the three days of talks, place IOT SWC as the most important international business platform around industrial IoT in the world.
This is shown by the growth the Congress has enjoyed in terms of the number of people attending (8,000 in 2016 as opposed to the few more than 4,500 in 2015), from 70 countries, and the presence of 172 exhibiting firms. The third meeting of IoT Solutions World Congress will take place in Barcelona on the coming 3 to 5 October 2017.
