Results of the Connected Apps in Healthcare 2017 report

Klas research, in December 2016, published the results of the “Connected Apps in Healthcare 2017” report.

The report aimed to study the health organisations’ and market’s evaluations and perceptions of the health apps, and identify their uses and trends. In making the report, KLAS talked to the clinical leaders of some of the most important world health organisations.

A total of 47 organisations took part and revealed their strategies on apps and mHealth to answer the questions:

• How do you view the apps market today?
• What are health app providers looking for?
• How do providers select the health apps?
• What are the providers’ concerns in the use of third party apps?

And some of the conclusions were: 

• Incipient use of apps in healthcare: around half of the health organisations have yet to use health apps in their daily activity.
• Patient Data: the main reason why providers use the apps is to access the patient’s Electronic Medical Record (HCE).
• Empowered patient: the providers are interested in developing applications that allow patients to access their registers and to manage their health data easily.
• Usability, cost and clinical impact are the factors of greatest importance in selecting a health app.
