The ICT Health and Social R&D+i Meetings, in this edition held in the Aula Magna of the UVic, will begin with a debate on the limits between ethics and technology, through a discussion between the doctor in philosophy Joan Canimas and the artist and member of the Cyborg Foundation Manel Muñoz. The debate aims to reflect on the suitability of setting limits on the application of new technologies in the personal and collective field.

Sensorics is the technological evolution of sensors, electrical or mechanical devices that turn physical magnitudes such as temperature, pressure, sounds, light or atmospheric pollution into measurable values that might be alerts or monitoring tools for health or the social field. In this sense, sensorics is becoming a key technological element to improve the quality of life of people, which by applying and using data, can predict situations that could be improved.

During the Meetings, some experiences of companies and institutions such as the Government of Catalonia, Barcelona Provincial Council, Vic City Hall, the Government of the Balearic Islands or of French regions in the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion will be presented; for example, pollution monitoring practices to reverse the effects on health, or the use of home sensors to detect falls or mobility problems among the elderly.

The ICT Health and Social R&D+i Meetings, with the first five editions held in Girona, aim to promote and disseminate ICT tools applied to the field of Health and Social Welfare. The last edition, the sixth, was already held in Vic for two days and received 450 people to see the presentation of 168 research projects.

The organisers of this meeting are the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia, the ICT Social Health Foundation, the Hospital Consortium of Vic, the Catalan Institute of Health, the Hospital Foundation of the Holy Cross of Vic, the EAP of Vic, the EAP of Osona Sud, Alt Congost, the ABS of Centelles and Creacció.
