The m-Resist mobile health project aims to develop a therapeutic program for people with treatment resistant schizophrenia. The aim of the program is to involve patients and their carers in dealing with the illness by defining a new model of remote intervention and taking advantage of mobile data to develop predictive models related to the illness.
Over the first 18 months, the project has defined the new model of intervention, gathering the needs and expectations of the end users by holding joint work sessions, and has defined the technological components that will form the solution.
Over the coming months, the consortium will carry out the process of validating the program by means of a pilot trial with healthy users (in which the acceptability and usability of the solution, amongst other things, will be assessed), followed by a pilot trial in three of the participating regions (Catalonia, Israel and Hungary) in which real patients, relatives and medical professionals will take part.
The reactions to the project by the representatives of the European Commission and the external assessors were very positive, and they described the project as a great example of clinical-technological collaboration that addresses a niche of action: care for patients with treatment resistant schizophrenia in which new forms of care and monitoring are essential.
