In order to gain a holistic view of the map of tendencies survey, we interviewed Francesc ‘Paco’ Moya, one of the people behind and the current head of Information Systems of the Maresme Health Consortium.

Moya, connected to TicSalut in the past, expresses a very positive view of the development of the map over the years. “The map of tendencies has followed the same path as the medical records of health centres: more digitisation and more expansion of the content over the years.”

The survey has spread to all areas of care, has passed through the traditional paper surveys to the online and has expanded the content to meet the needs of information for the governance of ICT in the Department of Health.

In this sense, Moya views ICT as a “key element in optimising the Processes, which requires constant investment to maintain and improve infrastructures and flows of information”.

And he believes that in recent years it has been difficult to be able to meet the demand for requirements in Information Systems due to the reduction of costs and investments, but that “in the coming years, the sector requires investment in Information Systems to be recovered and increased, better coordination between the centres and greater participation in the strategic and operative decisions of the administration”.

For the health institutions, Moya believes that "the results of the survey provide very useful data for comparing and obtaining objective information on how each of the centres stands with respect to the globality of the sector” and that to draw greater potential from it, it would be necessary “to move forward in the simplification, reliability and quality of the data” to enable the achievement of data of added value for the centres.

It will be at the end of December, as every year, that Fundació TicSalut will hold the Meeting of the Map of Tendencies in ICT and Health in Mataró, where amongst other things, the results of the study will be presented and the 10 years of Fundació Tic Salut will be commemorated.
